Home Improvement Trends 2024

Feb 29, 2024, 18:00 PM

For most consumers, the home improvement project journey follows pretty much the same route. First stop, the internet. They search, scroll, fall down online rabbit holes, bookmark pages, search some more. Today’s online tools will take a homeowner pretty far, but eventually the road needs to leads to “in real life” research. That’s where the Atlanta Home Show comes in.

The show pays off all that online research by providing a one-stop shop for consumers to get face-to-face with local professionals and find specific answers to their personal projects. The spring edition of the show (Georgia’s Largest Home Show) at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

The show is also a great destination to discover the latest trends in home improvement and design – live and in person.

The pros at the show have put together four hot home improvement trends for 2024:

Biophilic Design. If you haven’t heard of biophilic design, chances are you’ve experienced it. From the “living wall” of plants or moss at your favorite café to the soothing water feature in a boutique hotel lobby, biophilic design brings elements of nature into interiors. North Florida homeowners are also bringing the outdoors in by adding to their outdoor living space with sunrooms, decks; adding live plants in every room and more.

Multigenerational Living. Population shifts are creating a boom in several generations living under one roof. From parents moving in with children as they age or children moving back home, there’s an increase in “aging in place” features, “mother-in-law” suites, guest suites with mini kitchens and their own private entrances and more to accommodate multi-generational living.

Dramatic Walls.
Easy-to-apply peel and stick wallpaper and countless hours of home improvement TV programming have introduced consumers to a multitude of options to cream or grey colored walls. Thanks to the “Moody dram” trend we’re seeing luxurious palettes of jewel tones with deep navy blues and forest greens and floral wallpapers -- think of an upscale, historic European inn.

Spa Like Bathrooms.
Bringing spa-like retreats and resort-style elements into the home has become an increasingly popular trend  for consumers so that every day feels like vacation. Be on the lookout for spa-like features, especially in bathrooms, with steam showers and deep soak tubs.
